There are many differences between the girls and boys game. For starters, instead of four 12 minutes quarters the girls play two halves at 25 a piece and the face off is a bit different as well. These differences don’t hinder the game, in fact it makes for a more entertaining type of game, that puts a premium on defense. The fast pace in which the offenses are allowed to play make it tough on defenses. Speed leads to points so the defense must rely on a team effort to keep the offense at bay. On Wednesday your Lady T-Birds took on the Lady Wasps of Wasatch High School.
In the fist half, the lady T-Birds took a quick 3-0 lead before Wasatch settled and tied the game at the 18 minute mark. After re-establishing their dominance, the Lady T-Birds went back up 6-3 with some great passing and scored on a nifty “One Touch” shot. The Lady Wasps cut into the lead with a one on one shot that beat our keeper to the top right corner of her net making the score 6-4. However the Lady T-Birds turned the pressure back up and scored two more goals, bringing the score to 8-4. However, before the horn sounded for the half Wasatch got one back, to head into the break down 8-5.
After the break the Lady Wasps came out firing on all cylinders as they scored 2 quick goals to cut the lead to one. After settling down, Timpview took one back to take the lead back up to 2 points. From the 13 minute mark on, the game was played on a sea-saw with both teams trading goals. However the defense found their footing, and kept the Lady Wasps out of the net until the 2 minute mark of the game. After that, the Lady T-Birds played keep away to kill the clock and finished the game with a 16-11 win. Congratulations to Coach Sara and our Lady T- Birds Lacrosse team for their 1st ever home win. GO T-BIRDS!!
